There is a fraud risk of which we believe you should be aware. It is a phishing email posing to be the IRS and is related to the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). This scheme uses an e-mail that claims that your tax payment was rejected and directs you to a website for additional information. This website contains malware that will attempt to infect your computer and gather sensitive information.
The IRS advises that if you do happen to receive a message claiming to be from the IRS or the EFTPS, please do the following in this order:
From: EFTPS Tax Payment [mailto:customers@eftps.gov]
Subject: SECOND NOTICE: Your Tax Payment ID: 010334225 has been rejected.
Your Federal Tax Payment ID: 010375130 has been rejected.
Return Reason Code R21 - The identification number used in the Company Identification Field is not valid.

The Electronic Federal Tax Payment System PLEASE NOTE: Your tax payment is due regardless of EFTPS online availability. In case of an emergency, you can always make your tax payment by calling the EFTPS.
